Do you have more than one e-mail address? Hopefully, yes. Now, how many e-mail addresses should you have exactly? It’s a bit dependent on how organized you want to be with your e-mails. I have four. One completely for junk, one for business, one personal for family, and another for regular mail, registration info, and a bit of spam and business stuff as well.
Organization is extremely important when working online. Separating types of e-mails starts with having separate e-mail addresses.
Types of E-mails:
-Spam
-Personal/family
-Business
-Website-specified
-Registration/confirmation e-mails
-Paid ads
Having one e-mail address per type will probably keep you the most organized. If you’re worried about getting confused or forgetting your passwords, just make sure to write it down or save a file on Wordpad.
Now, here are some more details about each type of e-mail address account, assuming you have one for each e-mail type.
1) Spam
If you make money by completing offers, you almost always have to give out your e-mail address to complete the offer. Nothing great is going to come out of allowing you to send as many e-mails as they wish- it’s all going to be spam. Direct it to your spam account and you won’t have to worry about clogging your other e-mail accounts, and you’ll get paid for completing the offer.
Log in and check: Every 3-6 months, just to make sure it doesn’t delete because of inactivity.
2) Personal/Family
Can be combined with Business to condense number of accounts.
Log in and check: Daily, especially if combined with Business.
3) Business
Can be combined with personal/family or Website-specified. Partners, employees, advertisers, and everyone like so should be given this address.
Log in and check: Daily.
4) Website-specified
If you own a popular site or blog and you allow people to contact you, it’d be wise to get a admin@websitename.com or something similar. This looks professional as opposed to XjoeX2341531531@netscape.net. Interested advertisers and site visitors should be given this address.
Log in and check: Daily, it’s important to stay in quick contact with your site visitors and advertisers.
5) Registration/confirmation e-mails
These are the wonderful e-mails you receive whenever you sign up to a website, newsletter, etc. It can be combined with business or personal.
6) Paid ads
When making money online by reading e-mails, having a separate e-mail for it is REALLY helpful. Doing this allows you to start from the top of your inbox and go through each paid ad down the line without running into other e-mails or having to skip over something to read later. Plus, depending on how many paid to read e-mail sites you are signed up for, it can be pretty inbox-filling.
Depending on what you do, and how much you spend doing it, the number of e-mail addresses you might want to have might be different from someone else. Between 4-6 is probably

does anyone else have a hard time managing multiple emails?
With email addresses (and credit cards for that matter) I have pruned down to one real one and one “back up” one. I just can’t get myself to check regularly…
Character flaw I suppose! haha.
Good post though.

I think you need to have 3 e-mails. I think that is enough for me.

I dont know if i agree with you. i have four email accounts also but I sometimes neglect to read my email from each account. I think having one email account and monitoring the spam on it is the way to go.

I think you just need one for blogging, e-mail for work, for friends, for bussiness.
